Meet Chuck Schmalzried
Chuck Schmalzried has crafted an enduring legacy in the home-building and construction industry, driven by his unwavering dedication to hard work and its profound impact on one's life. Today, Chuck proudly serves as the Co-Owner of Michelle Construction, a reputable home-building company nestled near Devil’s Lake in Michigan. In this capacity, Chuck collaborates with his partner, Michelle (Micky), drawing upon their extensive track record of success to deliver uniquely exceptional homes. Michelle Construction is renowned for its impeccable craftsmanship, specializing in crafting homes that exude timeless beauty with a modern touch.
Chuck's journey in the realm of construction began taking shape during his high school years, as he absorbed valuable skills under the tutelage of a seasoned carpenter and his own father during their household projects. Little did he know at the time, but these skills would play a pivotal role in shaping his future. Following high school graduation, Chuck briefly dabbled in college life, only to realize that his true calling beckoned beyond the conventional and towards uncharted horizons. This calling eventually culminated in Chuck's service in the United States Air Force.
Between 1986 and 1992, Chuck Schmalzried served in the Air Force, actively participating in Operation Desert Storm. Although he may not have realized it then, his time in the military instilled in him a deep familiarity with hard work, foreshadowing his eventual career in home-building. After an honorable discharge from the military, Chuck settled in Ohio and joined the Ohio National Guard. During this period, he undertook various construction-related jobs until 1998 when he teamed up with his father to establish their own construction venture – Schmalzried Custom Homes. Following the dissolution of this business, Chuck assumed his current role at Michelle Construction, a role that he continues to cherish and embrace with each passing day.
Beyond the ability to transform raw materials into architectural marvels, Chuck Schmalzried's greatest joy lies in the meaningful connections he forges with the individuals for whom he builds homes. Embodying the motto "homes over houses," Chuck ardently believes in constructing spaces where families can thrive, create everlasting memories, and nurture profound love for one another.
